Our farm offers a once-per-year, CSA-style mushroom share. Read about all the details below to see if you'd like to become a member and learn how to sign up.
Similar to a CSA box, you'll receive a share of mushrooms for each week of delivery. The mushroom share runs for 10 total weeks on a bi-weekly basis (you receive a mushroom delivery every other week) from June to October. Your exact schedule of days for pickup will be shared with you before the mushroom share begins. You will choose the local dropsite that works best for you to pick up your mushrooms from. Pickup days will be dropsite specific in 2026. Our primary method of communication with members is email. When signing up, please use an email address that you will check regularly throughout the season.
Oyster and shiitake mushrooms are the most reliable mushrooms we grow, so these will make up the bulk of the share. They are delicious and versatile mushrooms! We also grow several varieties of oysters for a pop of color--you may see pink oysters in the share once the weather gets hot. We'll also include specialty seasonal mushrooms in the share whenever the weather and season allow. Mushrooms like Lions Mane, Chestnut, Winecap, and Nameko grow on logs or woodchips on the farm, but they only fruit naturally and seasonally. If we get the right conditions for a great harvest, we'll be sure to include these beautiful mushrooms in the share. You can expect to receive at least a half lb of mushrooms and not more than 1lb of mushrooms for each week of delivery, depending on the type of mushroom included.
This year we have 4 dropsites available:
Red Door Family Farm Summer CSA Members--your Mushroom share is an add-on to your existing Red Door CSA membership. You'll be able to pick up your mushrooms at the SAME dropsite that you already chose for your summer CSA box. The mushrooms will be delivered on the same day as your CSA box.
Athens/Rue de Bungaloo Farm: you can choose this option if you live in the Athens area and want to pick up your mushrooms from us directly on our farm at 119329 Frank Rd. Athens, WI 54411
Medford/The Tire Station Kitchen and Tap: You can choose this option if you live in the Medford area and want to pick up your mushrooms from The Tire Station Kitchen and Tap (formerly Marilyn's), a restaurant in downtown Medford. New in 2026: Pickup day for Medford will be on Tuesdays this year!
Rib Lake/farm stand at Forward Bank: You can choose this option if you live in the Rib Lake area and want to pick up your mushrooms from We Grow Farm's stand at Forward Bank. For this option, mushrooms will be available after 3:30pm on Wednesdays. Thanks to our friends at We Grow for making this opportunity possible!
This year instead of offering outright mushroom shares through Cattail Organic's CSA, we are giving folks the option to order mushrooms on a weekly basis (subject to availability) through Cattail Organics' online store. Through their online store, you can place weekly orders whether you are a CSA member or not (as long as you live within their delivery range). Instead of signing up for a mushroom share, simply visit Cattail Organics' online store throughout the season to see what products are available. If you have a CSA share, you can add-on a bag of mushrooms to your weekly box using this method. We will be offering seasonal mushrooms and fruit, so be sure to check it out!
If you're in the Wausau area, you can also find us at the Wausau Saturday Farmer's Market on River Drive, and this year we'll be offering online market preorder options on our website to make shopping easier than ever!
The 10 week mushroom share costs $125 in 2026.

There are several ways to find our mushrooms besides the mushroom share!
1. Visit us at the farmers market. We attend the Medford Saturday farmers market and the Wausau Saturday Farmers Market (River Drive) throughout the season. Stay tuned on social media to see our market schedule. NEW IN 2026: We will be offering online market preorders to make shopping easier than ever! Join our email list to learn more!
2.Check out our neighbor Cattail Organics' online store! Even if you aren't a CSA member, you can still place a weekly order as long as you're within their delivery range. Check it out throughout the season for a great selection of local food from their farm and ours!
3. Follow us on social media and sign up for our email list to stay up to date on pop-up sales, new product offerings, and more!
